The Truth came to Argentina in 1986, when Bro. Hugo Petrilli was baptized in isolation in Rosario after instruction by the late Bro. George Smith. Further baptisms came with the advent of the Internet. In 2002 Rubén Barboza, a young man in the central city of Córdoba, came across the Spanish-language Christadelphian web site labiblia.com. He persevered in his pursuit of the Truth and was baptized late that year by Bre. Hugo and Jim Hunter. Further outreach in Córdoba by word of mouth and newspaper advertising resulted in four more baptisms and the establishment of a small ecclesia. In addition, Sis. Margaret Hamlin was baptized in Buenos Aires and now lives in isolation at Miramar on the southeast coast. Bro. Hugo visits her occasionally and looks up promising contacts in other parts of the country. Work continues with several interested friends in Córdoba, where a series of public lectures is offered several times a year. Recent Internet advertising targeting the Córdoba area has been bringing in a steady supply of new postal-course students and it is hoped to continue exploring these contacts in the upcoming year, God willing. In addition to regular email and telephone communications, the Argentine members and friends are frequently visited by CBMA workers, Spanish Truth Corps volunteers and/or vacationing Christadelphians from North America and Britain.
