Since the beginning of this decade Perú has been the most fruitful source of Internet contacts and postal-course students in Latin America. For some time, until the cost rose excessively, the CBMA augmented Internet advertising with local newspaper advertising, so that our Perú contact database now has over 550 names. However a first exploratory visit in 2002 did not appear to bear much fruit, and it wasn't until Bro. Robert Alderson of New Zealand offered the first public talks in Lima in 2005 that the work began to be really productive. Since then CBMA workers have made several speaking visits a year, usually attracting 15 to 20 friends per talk. Two brethren were baptized in 2008, several more persons have requested baptism and are in the process of instruction, while many other students continue to show an encouraging degree of interest. In 2008 and 2009 several Christadelphian travellers from Latin America and the US visited Lima and were a great encouragement to the local brethren. Perú would appear to offer a solid future for the Truth, so with God's help it is intended to continue cost-effective outreach by means of targeted Internet advertising while bringing along and strengthening the existing brethren, baptismal candidates and interested friends.
